Chinese Cultural Revolution Photos

The photo I chose was in spread the word and it had a big painting or picture of Mao and a lot of Chinese posters with a lot of Chinese symbols. Below that is a huge crowd that seem to be getting rallied up to support Mao and this probably how they would brain-wash young children. The picture is the fourth picture from the spread the word line. the guard on the podium are holding the picture or painting of Mao and they are watching the people get rallied by another guard. this is one of the ways that the guards would get the support of the people, some of the other ways would be handing out the little red book and the use of propaganda are other ways. then to get the youth of the nation they would go around in the schools and get the children to be exited to be a red guard but the best way to get red guards was that if you became a red guard you were able to travel any were if it was related to being a red guard actions.

GPA 2

I found out that my over all grade point average has gone down from a 3.88 to a 3.63 but that still is a really good grade point average because I have not gone to below a B in my grades. i was surprised that it went down but that just makes me want to work harder and get the grades up that went down because i want to bring it back up because i would like a better grade point average. i have been working hard this semester but not hard enough because my grade point average has dropped and i would like to bring it back up. i will try to get it up by doing any extra credit and by doing my best on every project, homework assignment, and class work.

I have not found out anything more about the schools I want to join or get accepted into.

Since we are in April I will work extra hard on every thing to get my grades up or for them to stay were they are.

intern presentations

the intern presentations were interesting yet boring. what struck me was that they all had to read their vignettes off of their paper!!! if you do a presentation you should have at least have it memorized as if this is a POL or TPOL were you have note cards with notes and not a paper with a script. the only one that i liked was the first one because she went into detail but not enough to overdo it.
i learned that i will want a hands on job because it is really likely that is i do not i will probably do bad and become bored and fail which would suck a lot. i will probably want to do like a animal one because animals are awesome and you can not get tired of all the animals in like three weeks.
the first one and the one about the little girl because they were the ones that actually made sense and kept me interested because all the other ones were too detailed and had no emotion.

Suheir Hammad & Marjane Satrapi on War

The quote " I will not dance to the bombs because every one is dancing" is confusing because is it meaning she will not run from bombs, she is not happy, or just does not care. I also think that she was trying to be different. "i will create my own drum, our chanting will be dancing, our humming will be drumming." i think that that means that she will go to war since that the drums before were war drums and that their war will not through violence but through music. "this heart beat is louder then death" struck me because it reminded me of the person that was burned to death and made a revolution for a random reason because his death was louder than a heart beat.
"Rhythm is half silence" is in rap and war they have rhythm."language can not math me" is a struck me because i agreed to it and also you can not say this with out something popping in to your head. "do not fear what has blown up" is talking about war and violence like marjane had to grow up with war and her neighbors house blew up. "smoke where once was flesh." was talking about the violence of revolution and war because the burning man and also when the people are bombed in war there is smoke after explosion

part two

they both have defined revolutions as an act of war. "sky where once was steel." it is talking about the world trade center and in Persepolis marjanes neighbors house was hit by a missile and was destroyed. "smoke where once was flesh." that was also talking about the buildings being destroyed in war and burning rubble of buildings. "or that evil is as simple as a flag and words on a page." is representing the revolutionaries revolting because they are being treated unfair. "women will have to bury children." is talking about war because the old do not go to war but the younger generations do and are killed or have post trauma after seeing their friends die in front of their eyes.

Islam

Famous Islamic people
Benazir Bhutto was the first female Muslim head of head of state. but was kicked out of office by two presidents and when she was running for a third she was assassinated by a suicide bomber. Muhammed the prophet was the first and Islamic prophet and he had convinced everyone that the angle Gabriel had spoken to him and told him to be the preacher of Alla. Ayatollah khomeini was the first muslem supreme leader and the father of the revolution. Ayatollah Khameini is the second supream leader in Iran.

Malaasia

Malaysia is located above Indonesia and below Thailand. it is a group of island that are close to each other their are two different parts of Malaysia one is below Thialand and above Indonesia. the second one is located to the east and is above another part of Indonesia.

Some thing that is going on in Malaysia is that it is deforesting the forest faster than the rest of asia combined. every year they deforest 2 percent of their forest every year. the rest of asia only deforests 2.8 percent in five years! this is realy bad for the envirement because they are letting more carbon in the atmosphere. but the sad thing is that the land that they deforest gets turned into palm oil plantaintions.

Street art

What I noticed in the documentary "exit through the gift shop" is that the street artists in the movie spent a lot of money printing printouts that they print out. what i am going to try to incorporate in my art piece is the cutout style that banksy used because it looked really cool and interesting to try. If that does not work then i am going to have an image pixelated so that is can still look like the image but giving it an interesting effect. all the artist in the documentary had a theme and a passion relating to the theme and i want to include the passion into my artwork. I also want to include the colors that make each other standout.
what amazed me about the work the artists did was that they did it fast and they did their own thing and made it work. The art that they did was good and inspirational in their own way like banksy does things to bring memories up and he brings up the basics to live like freedom. while the invader makes things from the space invader game and puts them up. the thing that amazed me the most was that banksy was able to get a live elephant and paint it and not get in trouble.
the artist used used their craft to spread a message and to get more popular by doing like what Shepard Fairey did with the Andre the Giant has a posse. then invader did the space invader theme to show that every one likes it and has played it. every street artist does the art for it has a symbolic and inner relationship to them. for this reason every street artist does street art.

In my political cartoon Diana is pushing a button on a wall off buttons that says Oppression because that is what she and the government. the other buttons symbolize other things their doing like "equality", handicaps, and pain because they have been a pain to the citizens. their "equality" is never equal because some people having a head set makes it unfair and their is also the matter with Diana and the government and having no handicaps at all. i got my inspiration about the political cartoon when i was thinking how do people sleep with the headsets and and it slowly evolved in to what i have now.

A political cartoon is a cartoon making fun of a political issue, its purpose is to show what is going on in a funny/ comical way.

"The Metamorphosis" Chapter 3

I think Kafka decided to transform Gregor into a grotesque insect, is that, Franz Kafka had mental issues and psychological problems, for example he engaged three women and ended them.  i think “The Metamophosis” is a wierd short story about how he felt as a human feels that is depressed and compared to the world, like an insect. Kafka's problems and his feeling made his crappy life feel like a instcts because he thought of himself as insignificant, like a cockroach. Kafka wrote the emotional displaced story great, and i think that he wrote it to represent his life because Gregor represented him because he had to do a job that he hated and Kafka learned how to be a lawyer when he wanted to be able to be a author.

I think that Kafka turned Gregor into a cockroach because he wan mentally unstable and also because he was depressed and that this is a depressed story and that is why the person did not go from frog to a prince or princess because those are happy story's and this is not one of those story's.

"The Metamorphosis" Chapter 2

In the story "The Metamorphosis" the main character suported his family witch harmed the family because he was transformed into a big cockroach and so the only source of income suddenly stopped for the first time in five years. his parents and sister in those five years had just stayed at home and did nothing to help had lived a life of luxury had a big wake up. on page 9 and 10 Gregor the cockroach had overheard that his dad had enough money hidden away that he could of payed off the debt which was the only reason Gregor was working.

Six rules a family needs to function

1) Space: without personal space a family will be all fighting each other and also if you had no space it would be really awkward.
2) Equilibrium: because with out balence in the family every one would be fighting to get the best things and for the most things like the dad would eat like a king and every one else would be fighting over the scraps.
3) Communication: if you did not have fluid communication you would have noway of telling each other what you are going to do and also no way of talking to each other way to be supporting and also comforting.
4) Love: without love a family would be like a group of strangers living together without knowing why and they would be fighting.
5) Respect: if a family did not have respect they would not want to do anything for anyone and also they would have no acknowledgment for the things they did do.
6) Finding the middle ground (compromise): a family needs to be able to find the middle ground because if not the parents would do nothing for the kids if their was nothing in it for them.

Grade
i think the Samsa family deseves a B before the transformaton and a D+ after because no-one would expect their child to be tranformed randomly in their life, and also because the way they treated him after the transformation. trying to stone him with apples is not what you do to a family member eving if they have been trancformed into a cockaroach.

"The Metamorphosis" Chapter 1

What circumstances in Gregor's life might have caused him to feel dehumanized even before the metamorphosis took place?

I think that Gregor became a cockroach because he did nothing but work. He would get up at 4 in the morning tired and leave for work. Gregor gets back when other people were eating breakfast and have to make the necessary orders his job a traveling salesmen need to do then go out and sell. When he comes back to the inn he then helps his family with chores and fixes things. He wishes he was able to tell his boss what he thought of him but cant because his parents owes money to the boss.

Gregor feels like a slave that has to work to pay off a debt because he has to help his parents pay off the debt to the boss for reasons we do not know and he hates the job he has to do. His family relationship has deteriorated leaving only the need to take care of his mom dad and sister. Then at one point he felt like a stranger with his family he transformed into the cockroach.
